When Joseph Smith entered the grove of trees near his home, he began to offer up to God the desires of his heart. He said in his own words,I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me.
I believe the idea of a young, humble boy with pure faith, knowing that God would answer his prayer, is inspiring. This painting captures the moment, as the light of heaven begins to descend upon him — a moment which began the ushering in of a new dispensation and the beginning of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
