Birth Wars heating up….no middle ground

Battle lines drawn over C-sections
By Rita Rubin, USA TODAY
For some women, birth has become the latest battleground for reproductive rights.
Go Here
The day is fast approaching, and in many places in America, it is here, when families will have to choose between c-section and unassisted birth.
Some Lay Midwifery laws, like those in Colorado, prohibit midwives from delivering VBAC moms at home, unless if the mother lives within thirty minutes of a facility that is willing to deliver by C-section. The parameters of these rules are so restrictive that many women will not be able to find a midwife, much less a facility that will be willing to deliver her vaginally after a previous Cesarean.
The time is coming when many mothers will have to make this difficult choice.
I have already decided that should we have another baby, and if the choice comes down to a C-section or a homebirth, we will once again give birth in the sanctity of our own home.
